{"id":16900,"date":"2023-04-04T14:48:17","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T14:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pqc.es\/quiralidad-y-computacion-optica\/"},"modified":"2026-02-23T15:40:02","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T15:40:02","slug":"quiralidad-y-computacion-optica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pqc.es\/en\/quiralidad-y-computacion-optica\/","title":{"rendered":"Quiralidad y computaci\u00f3n \u00f3ptica"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"news-content-block\">\n<p>A finales de 2022, <strong>la revista Science Advances public&oacute; un art&iacute;culo sobre la computaci&oacute;n &oacute;ptica,<\/strong> donde se revelaba tambi&eacute;n una forma muy prometedora de conectarla a circuitos electr&oacute;nicos convencionales.<\/p>\n<p>El hecho es que, <strong>a medida que un rayo de luz se mueve hacia adelante, se puede hacer que gire en espiral como la rosca de un tornillo<\/strong>, haci&eacute;ndolo en sentido horario o antihorario, en una polarizaci&oacute;n circular hacia la derecha o hacia la izquierda. <strong>Esa luz tiene una propiedad,<\/strong> conocida como quiralidad, que permite servir de base para que, al proyectar dos haces de luz sobre una puerta <em>(<\/em><em>para crearla, los investigadores han utilizado una sola capa de disulfuro de molibdeno colocada sobre di&oacute;xido de silicio<\/em><em>)<\/em> el haz de salida tome un sentido u otro en funci&oacute;n de que las dos entradas tengan igual o distinta quiralidad <em>(un objeto es quiral cuando su imagen especular no puede superponerse con el original, como sucede con una mano).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>De esta manera se puede obtener una puerta l&oacute;gica XNOR<\/strong> que, con la incorporaci&oacute;n de ciertos filtros y de otros componentes &oacute;pticos puede convertirse en funciones AND, OR, NOR, XOR y NAND.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Esta nueva tecnolog&iacute;a permite tiempos de conmutaci&oacute;n de <\/strong><strong>100 femtosegundos<\/strong>, aproximadamente un mill&oacute;n de veces m&aacute;s r&aacute;pido que las puertas electr&oacute;nicas, digamos, convencionales. Asimismo, mientras en el pasado la conexi&oacute;n entre elementos electr&oacute;nicos y &oacute;pticos de computaci&oacute;n se ha llevado a cabo mediante una conversi&oacute;n lenta e ineficiente, <strong>esta nueva v&iacute;a abierta por la quiralidad &oacute;ptica ense&ntilde;a un camino de interconexi&oacute;n directa entre ambas realidades<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adem&aacute;s, los investigadores han podido mostrar c&oacute;mo un mismo dispositivo puede controlar simult&aacute;neamente m&uacute;ltiples puertas con lo cual se presume que las puertas l&oacute;gicas de quiralidad m&uacute;ltiple <strong>podr&aacute;n servir de base para complejos circuitos y redes multifuncionales.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><em>Las investigaciones siguen avanzando en el sentido de asociar las puertas en circuitos de mayor escala donde las operaciones puedan establecerse en cascada.<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>Quiz&aacute; la mayor pega, y por tanto el mayor de los retos a enfrentar, es la baja eficiencia del efecto &oacute;ptico no lineal, pero para eso <strong>ya est&aacute;n apareciendo nuevos materiales<\/strong> con mucha mayor eficiencia en la conversi&oacute;n.<\/p>\n<h3>&iexcl;Desde
